Beware of cheaper, inferior synthetic turfs.

Selecting a synthetic lawn is a little like buying carpet. You can pop down to the discount supplier and buy a cheap “it’ll do” carpet, but it won’t wear well and will be difficult to keep clean. Likewise, cheaper synthetic turfs introduce a whole range of variables, costs, longevity not to mention warranties. ‘Lady Jane’ has been developed by ‘Sir Walter’, a brand known as Australia’s favourite natural home lawn turf. After spending over 8 years benchmarking new standards in natural turf, we certainly didn’t cut corners with developing ‘Lady Jane’ synthetic. Premium materials, an incredibly natural appearance and robust, hard wearing construction are all hallmarks that set ‘Lady Jane’ apart from all other synthetics available.

What to look for when buying Synthetic Turf:

Pile Height - Lady Jane has a pile height of 50mm. That’s the optimum height to give a real look and maximum softness. The higher the pile height the better your synthetic lawn will wear over time. Most inferior varieties offer pile heights between 18mm and 45mm.

Stitch Count - this technical term is used to describe the number of individual grasses per lineal meter of sewn rows. The higher the better. Most inferior products have a stitch count between 90 and 140, whereas Lady Jane has an incredibly high stitch count of 190. We believe that’s the minimum for a home lawn.

Machine Gauge - In layman’s terms this is how far apart the rows are that are sewn into the base. The closer the better. Most inferior product have a inch to inch gauge, Lady Janes is a tight 3/8 of an inch. Don’t settle for anything wider.

Pile Weight - This really means how much grass you are getting for your buck. The heavier the better. It’s a very important question to ask your suppliers particularly as a lot of the cheap Chinese imports may have a dense appearance but when weighed they are very light indicating poor quality and short life span. The pile weight of Lady Jane is 1,775g per m2. Anything less and you are not buying the best home lawn product.
